Bumpy’s Debut Single ‘Falling’

With a voice that clocks your soul immediately, Bumpy’s debut single ‘Falling’ was exactly what this Indigenous woman needed to hear when I was feeling what the song intends to communicate.

“Falling was something I wrote to help process and navigate my thoughts and experiences. It represents a time when I was feeling lost, confused, unsure and unsteady. Learning to sit and create in that space feels really empowering and allows those emotions to be acknowledged and nurtured,” says Bumpy, a proud Noongar woman from regional Victoria presents an introspective view into her truths as a First Nations artist whilst delving into a world where vulnerability is power.

Using no more than her guitar and hypnotic vocals, Bumpy encapsulates the intensity and raw emotion of temptation and heartache. It is another example of resistance through existence, and how Indigenous musicians continue to tell stories across all genres, covering our diverse range of lived experiences. We love. We yearn. We experience heartache.  Our agency over all aspects of our storytelling continues to be such important reclamation within the music industry:

“Bumpy is me - speaking and finding my own words. It’s about getting to know me and learning to expose myself musically and personally. I think it’s a really important thing. A really powerful thing. ”
